Bambi The original story, written by Felix Salten. I never realized this was a real book apart from the Disney movie until it was mentioned Karen Andreola's book, Pocket of Pinecones. I read it to my girls this winter and it was definitely a favorite. We used Salten's descriptions of forest life and animals to take our own virtual "nature walk," looking up the various mentioned plants and animals in our North American Wildlife book and tracing them into our notebook.
