"Here, too, is a subject which should be to the
child an inexhaustible storehouse of ideas, should enrich the chambers of his
House Beautiful with a thousand tableaux, pathetic and heroic, and should form
in him, insensibly, principles whereby he will hereafter judge of the behaviour
of nations, and will rule his own conduct as one of a nation. This is what
the study of history should do for the child."
The Tanglewood School
Curriculum offers a comprehensive world history program following a
chronological order. Ancient history is studied in 1st, 5th, and 9th
grades, Medieval history in 2nd, 6th, and 10th grades, Late Renaissance in 3rd,
7th, and 11th grades, and Modern history in 4th, 8th, and 12th grades.
Concentrating mostly on
Western culture, The Tanglewood School Curriculum utilizes well written and
engaging "living" books and primary resources along with a fine
textbook covering a specific time period to help students develop
relationships with the time periods they study. Your student will have his own
Book of the Centuries (a Charlotte Mason concept) to fill in and
personalize with what he is learning. Our outstanding one-of-a-kind teacher's Corebook
contains the objectives and outline for the year's
schedule, outlines for
teaching geography the Charlotte Mason way, and timetable memory lists.
*Note: Only grades 1-4 are available at this
time.
